The Pahiyas Festival is a colorful display that transforms the entire town into a festive exhibition. Residents decorate every inch of their houses, from door handles to door frames. Visitors are welcomed into homes for a visit. They may even be treated to some traditional food. Here are some highlights of this event. Also, check out the places you shouldn’t miss during the festival. Here are some tips to make the most of your Pahiyas Festival experience.

Lucban’s pahiyas festival

The Pahiyas Festival is a colorful harvest celebration that draws tourists from all over the country. The festival is a celebration of thanksgiving to God for a good harvest. The Lucban art club’s president Fernando Cadelia Naawa first initiated the festival, which now honors the best harvest-themed house. The name Pahiyas refers to the ancient Filipino thanksgiving ceremony, which was held at the foot of Mt. Banahaw in order to express gratitude to the Gods for a good harvest. It was a custom continued by the Spaniards who prayed to the patron saint of farmers, San Isidro.

The Pahiyas Festival in Lucban has never been postponed due to inclement weather, so the city was able to celebrate the festival without any disruption. Although most houses offered photo niches, others allowed tourists to pose in front of their windows. The Lucban people are very generous and welcomed tourists to pose for pictures and enjoy the festival. However, the festival was a little more mellow than it used to be.

Highlights of the festival

The Pahiyas Festival is a colorful and artistic event that transforms the town into a dreamy landscape. Known for its intricately crafted costumes made of native and organic materials, the parades are beautiful displays of creativity. The costumes and decorations are made of rice wafers and ‘cabal’ leaves, and are often painted with vivid colors. The festival is an ideal time to see these colorful creations and take in the sights of the town.

This is a full-day event, and the residents open their doors to guests to see the festivities. Highlights of the Pahiyas Festival include a parade, a concert, art exhibit, and a celebration of the patron saint of rice.

Places to eat during the festival

Pahiyas means to decorate, and the town turns into a colorful exhibition. The town’s residents pay close attention to detail, decorating every square inch of their houses. Many of them also invite visitors into their homes to eat their traditional kiping, rice wafers. It is a very special time to visit the town and witness the vibrant festivities. To add to the festivities, there are also food booths where you can try out the local delicacies.

Places to avoid during the festival

Pahiyas Festival is a popular fiesta in the Philippines, held annually on May 15th. It commemorates the patron saint of farmers, San Isidro Labrador. It is a time of thanksgiving and joy for the harvest. In order to avoid any mishaps during Pahiyas Festival, the following tips may help you enjoy the celebrations to the fullest.

The Pahiyas Festival starts with a mass and ends with a procession of the statue of San Isidro de Labrador. The parade route then continues past decorated homes and ends at the Kamay ni Hesus Shrine and Sampaloc Lake.

Buying pasalubong

Before you leave the country, you must buy pasalubong from a baker or shop. This is a great way to share experiences with them, while also letting them know that you are thinking of them. Buying pasalubong from bakeries such as Pavino’s Bakery, near Buddy’s Restaurant, will help you celebrate the festival with your family and friends.

When buying pasalubong, you can choose from an array of colorful and inexpensive items. In the past, Filipino farmers would bring their harvests to the church where priests blessed them. Nowadays, you can find these items on display in front of homes during the festival. Aside from celebrating the festival with family and friends, the pahiyas also promotes local products made by Lucban, Quezon natives.
